Both the Contour Multi-X and Contour Portare-X are designed for the most demanding of situations, with full body x-ray coverage which can be customised to work with many x-ray brands with the latest digital technology, while helping to reliably transport patients throughout busy emergency departments and providing the best platform for procedure and recovery. There are some differences between these two stretchers that may affect what you need. Let’s look at some of their diversity and what it means for you;
Castors
The Multi-X has large 200mm diameter castors which offer the least resistance and easiest wheeling over any ground or floor type. If it's a large department, moving many patients over long distances, then this should be considered. The Portare-X has 150mm diameter twin wheel castors which may demand a little more physical effort, but they are lower in overall height which allows the base to be a little lower overall. This helps to command a better low working height of the stretcher.
Base Covers
The Multi-X base cover is larger and more generous with ample storage space incorporated for patients belongings, IV Pole and base Oxygen storage. The Portare-X only has two smaller spaces, one at each end.
Lifting
The Multi-X uses two vertically mounted multi-stage columns, which allows a greater range of working heights. This twin column design also gives the choice of fully hydraulic operation. The Portare-X has a more traditional, lower cost ‘ward bed’ style lifting arm system, which allows the lowest platform height of any product, however is available as electrically powered in one height range only.
Frame Designs
The Multi-X has the most customisable spectrum of design choices. The patient surface can be made narrower, wider, longer and shorter! There are a vast range of options and accessories that can be added (we only list some of the popular) to develop this stretcher into exactly what you require for best organizational outcomes, with one of the key differences being the unique Contour Orbit-Drive power drive system. There is excellent flexibility in the design to ensure it can work seamlessly with all the x-ray brands or digital systems in use today. The Portare-X has less ability to change or be modified, with just one wider width option and less choices in accessories.
Cost
The Multi-X can cost a couple of thousand dollars more than the Portare-X, due to its more costly operating design and range of bespoke customisations it has to offer.

Both stretchers feature the unique patented InfineX design, with full body length and width, head to toe, x-ray cassette coverage with no unwanted obstructions such as standoff plates and levers, ensuring an uninterrupted radiology experience every time.
