Lumis Ventilator | 150 VPAP ST
Lumis 150 VPAP ST is a non-invasive ventilator designed for non-dependent patients with obstructive or restrictive respiratory conditions.
Featuring ResMed’s unique volume-assurance mode – iVAPS (intelligent Volume-Assured Pressure Support) – Lumis 150 VPAP ST maintains target alveolar ventilation to suit each patient’s changing needs. The machine has an intelligent Backup Rate (iBR) and optional AutoEPAP, whilst iVAPS continuously monitors ventilation and the upper airway.
The ventilator is easy to set up and use and features built-in wireless connectivity to AirView – ResMed’s cloud-based patient management system – for remote monitoring.
Bilevel is a form of positive airway pressure ventilation, which is used primarily for nondependent patients with some form of respiratory insufficiency, i.e. they hypoventilate when sleeping, causing a rise in their carbon dioxide.
Common conditions which may require bilevel ventilation include:
Bilevel may also be used for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) patients who cannot tolerate high CPAP.
Bilevel ventilation delivers two set pressures during a patients breathing to prevent hypoventilation, or insufficient level of ventilation due to a respiratory deficiency. In Bilevel ventilation, an IPAP and EPAP is set. Every breath that the patient is delivered by the device, whether it be patient or device triggered, will reach the set pressure of IPAP, ensuring adequate ventilation throughout the night. On expiration, the patient will exhale to EPAP, maintaining airway patency between breaths.
A back-up breath rate can also be set, which will result in the device delivering mandatory breaths to the patients in the event of failure to trigger a breath.
