The wheel bearing is one of the factors – in addition to the tread, wheel diameter and swivel bearing – that determines the running characteristics and thus the quality of a castor.
Different requirements come to the fore depending on the intended use:
For example, castors for furniture in the home have to meet different conditions than castors used in a commercial setting. Different castors are required for refuse containers than for hospital beds, and shopping trolleys have different requirements than heavy-duty industrial equipment in a factory, for example.
Standard wheel bearings and special solutions
TENTE offers the right solution with the ideal wheel bearing for a variety of applications. The four most common types of bearing – plain bearing, roller bearing, cone ball bearing and precision ball bearing – form a large part of our product range. We also have other variants for special applications, if required. Tell us about your application and we will point you to the ideal wheel bearing!
The group of single-row precision ball bearings (also radial precision ball bearings) in different designs is the type of bearing with the highest quality, according to DIN standards. Even under extremely high loads, wheels fitted with these ball bearings have a particularly low rolling resistance.
Roller bearing
This type of bearing is shock resistant and robust. The roller bearings – in addition to plain and precision ball bearings – are mainly recommended for use with industrial castors. Their important features include a low installation height, relatively low rolling resistance and a high load capacity. Wheels with a roller bearing should not exceed a driving speed of 4 km/h, which is roughly walking speed.
Cone ball bearing
cone ball bearings are one of the most important subgroups of ball bearings. The great advantage of this type of bearing compared to plain bearings is the use of balls. These offer even better running characteristics.
Precision ball bearing
The group of single-row precision ball bearings (also radial precision ball bearings) in different designs is the type of bearing with the highest quality, according to DIN standards. Even under extremely high loads, wheels fitted with these ball bearings have a particularly low rolling resistance.
