Nitrox is a form of breathable analgesia. It is a colourless, odourless gas supplied under pressure in a cylinder with a valve to control the flow. The cylinder contains 50/50% of nitrous oxide and oxygen. A proven treatment for managing patient pain and anxiety on an as needed basis. It is usually given by a doctor, anaesthetist, dentist, ambulance officer, nurse or a suitable qualified health professional via a mask or mouthpiece in which patient’s breathe in the gas.
