COSMED Infant Body Composition Analyser ...
The PEA POD is an Air Displacement Plethysmography (ADP) system using whole body densitometry to determine body composition (fat and fat-free mass) in infants weighing between 1 and 8 kg. The PEA POD is extremely simple to operate, with software prompts guiding the operator through each step of the process. From start to finish, a PEA POD test takes about 7 minutes. The accuracy of the PEA POD has been shown to be very high against reference techniques in a number of research publications.
KEY FEATURES
Based on Air Displacement Plethysmography. ADP uses whole body densitometric principles to determine body composition (Fat and Fat-Free Mass) in infants weighing between 1 and 8 kg, guaranteeing high accuracy and excellent test-to-test repeatability
Complete turnkey system. The PEA POD is all-in-one device including in its unit all the hardware and software required to perform an accurate body composition test, including PC, cart, integrated digital scale (for body mass measurement), calibration, etc.
Fast test time. The PEA POD is extremely simple to operate, with software prompts guiding the operator through each step of the process. A full test requires only about 7 minutes (2 minutes inside the PEA POD chamber).
Completely non-invasive. PEA POD’s air displacement plethysmography has eliminated the invasiveness of other body composition techniques and it is therefore suitable for frequent, longitudinal tracking of body composition and metabolic changes over time.
Safety compliance. PEA POD adopts the same safety criteria of an incubator: constant temperature, ventilation, integrated CO2 sensors inside the camber, HEPA filter to protect against airborne disease transmission, redundant emergency stop.
Designed for infants. The PEA POD test accomodates most infant behaviors (crying, movement, etc.) and during the entire period the infant is clearly visible at all time through the unit window.
Validated technology. The accuracy of the PEA POD has been shown to be very high against reference techniques in a number of research publications. The technology is validated either on pre-term and term infants (1 to 8 kg ).
Low running costs and easy maintenance. The PEA POD is designed for durability over time. Each PEA POD has an internal diagnostic test function to analyze system performance and provide feedback to service personnel.
