The FMS was initially developed for human application in Nuclear Medicine before being transferred to veterinary use. It allows real-time monitoring and a notification system advising staff via email or SMS when the feline patient reaches the regulatory limit for release, eliminating the need to calculate the discharge time. It also provides the exact activity of the patient and ability to print out a total file of the feline patient.

Some quick points below;

A graph displays the dose provided to the feline patient; the distribution is shown of the dose after the iodine-131 capsule is broken up.
The following day, after the feline patient defecates or urinates, a considerable change in the dose can be observed. This provides understanding of biological and radiological decay, in some cases mathematical calculations do not agree for that reason.
RNSH are still today providing clinical data and a paper was presented by Dr Ferrada & Dr Bailey at the European Nuclear Medicine Conference in 2019 based on the findings of the I-131 PMS (human application).
