In Accordance To AS5369:2023:

The Spaulding Classification Scheme shall be used to categorize Reusable Medical Devices (RMDs) in health & non-health related facilities, applicable to the level of processing.

The Spaulding Classification Scheme has three categories:

1. Critical – requires sterilization.
2. Semi-Critical – requires sterilization or high-level disinfection.
3. Non-Critical – requires low-level disinfection.
